The Irregular Gut Club

Groucho Marx famously said, "I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member." The Irregular Gut Club is definitely a club no one really wants to be a member of. The guest list of membership is usually kept secret, people do not generally admit to being in the club. Some people are life long members, and others are just passing through. And let's be honest - it is not an exclusive club, anyone can join. Membership may feel inevitable, there were no membership fees and you cannot unsubscribe. However, once you find yourself a member of the irregular gut club with your bloating, constipation, feacal leakage and other such symptoms, it does not have to be a clandestine approach. You will find other people in the same situation, who will offer support and kindness. They will be compassionate and offer non judgemental reassurance that things can improve.

Belonging is a fundamental human need, a yearning ingrained within our souls, driving us to seek connections, communities, and relationships. We eagerly join clubs, teams, and societies that resonate with our interests, passions, and aspirations. Yet, there exists another dimension of belonging, one forged not in shared interests or pursuits, but in shared struggles and hardships.

As we navigate the complexities of life, let us not shy away from acknowledging the existence of the irregular gut club. Let us extend a hand of compassion to those who find themselves among its members, offering solace, support, and understanding. For in embracing the tender heart of belonging, we illuminate the path toward healing, acceptance, and hope.

If you find yourself an unwitting member of this club, why not reach out and see if we can relinquish that membership card together
